Everybody knows divas think the world revolves around us. I’m certainly no exception! It’s tough when you have a performance or an audition and you start to spin out. We snap at our loved ones, feel sick. Cry. (Not just little girls, grown men too – it’s crazy.) There’s a lot of pressure on a singer. We are right out front. It’s easy sometimes to forget how lucky we are that we get to do this. So, a few years ago I decided to link a different charity to every recital. By being of service to those less fortunate, our performances became part of a bigger event that did some good. Even a first time performer wants to buck up and get out there for THAT.

Fall/winter 2011 charity is Free The Slaves. This organization brings awareness to slavery all around the world, even here in the United States believe it or not. Please take the time to click on their link and read up, donate if you can – and most important – spread the word. Thanks, Sue

Free the Slaves celebrates the heroes next door. These folks are the change they want to see in the world. We’re learning from FTS’ volunteers that there are as many creative ways to help end slavery as there are slaves in the world. These heroes teach us more each day.
